(wife of late M N Vijayan)

Feeling really sad to inform the death of my dear little Prakashan, who was an employee of Al Tariq Auto & Heavy Equipment maintenance, Sharjah. He was on holidays in Kerala when he met with a bike to bike collision and hospitalized in critical condition. The picture portrays my first memory of him when I met him 38 years ago. A little boy running behind our car through the village road with the traditional toy of those days for children, the cycle rim and the stick!. He went on to become an aggressive child, fighter and I really cried my heart out that he will fight out from this situation, in coma and CCU for the last three days. But, god has different plans and he left this world this morning into eternal peace. He is survived by his mother, wife and two young daughters.

May his soul rest in peace. I pray for the courage of his family members to withstand this huge loss, their only bread winner and offer my prayers and support.

This is the 3rd accident in the last quarter involving those whom I know, young and educated. Two of them survived and unfortunately Prakasan perished. All those did not used helmets! Two of them were fast and furious! How on earth, I can try and educate the young people to go slow and safe on two wheelers! There needs to be an all out effort. The cry of his mother, who brought him up alone since the age of three still ringing in my ears. It took a long time to pass the news to her and give her the strength to be the pillar of strength for his wife and two young girls!.

Life ahead for them is really long and need full support. May god bless the family.

Om Sairam.

What surprised me is the laziness of people who just liked this post on social media and left it like that!!! Come out of your laziness, take the three seconds at least to type out RIP (the shortest form of consolation you can key in).

I dedicate a beautiful song on divine mother, thinking of her and all the mothers who lost their children at a young age!

Abdul Kalam left a rich legacy – Letters to the Editor – The National Dt 30th July 2015

Abdul Kalam left a rich legacy

Abdul Kalam left a rich legacy

Your editorial A humble man with big ideas (July 29) was poignant. With the death of Dr Abdul Kalam, India has not just lost a great scientist, but a great human being.

Two major incidents made this week particularly tragic for the country, as there was also a terrorist attack in Punjab.

Dr Abdul Kalam was a visionary, as he devoted his time to nurture young talent. He realised that the young generation is the backbone of the nation. He was also kind and compassionate. Dr Abdul Kalam strongly advocated an action plan to develop India into a “knowledge superpower”. His rich legacy will keep his memory alive. His books, particularly Wings of Fire and Ignited Minds, will carry his thoughts and ideas to millions of people. May his soul rest in peace.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam

My humble pranams to the departed soul of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, a noble soul and a personality that can never be replaced. This was a photo taken while my trip to Rameshwaram in October 2012. It shows how ordinary people value him and his contribution to the nation. It was the first time, I saw an ad of this kind.

Vijaylekshmy Menon – 07.11.1945 – 03.11.2011

Posted on Updated on

With profound sadness, I write to you today (3rd November 2011) the demise of my mother in law Mrs Vijayalekshmy Menon, at HCG Hospital, Bangalore at 8:50 pm. A Kerala state Badminton player and as a person with definite objectives in life and will power to fight, she really fought her final battle with cancer, aggressively than anyone and left me and my family with lots of memories for the future without her.
She worked as a teacher of mathematics at St George School Delhi, St Thomas School Bangalore and later as Librarian at  Our Own English High School Abu Dhabi.
Mrs Vijayalekshmy Menon is survived by her only daughter Rajashree, grandson Suraj and brothers Joy, Santhan, Sethu and Venu.
Her husand Late MRK Menon and son Late Rajeev Menon passed away some years ago.
Cremation will be conducted as per Hindu rites at Kalpally electric crematorium, Bangalore on 4th November 2011 at 11:00 am.
Being with her during the entire period of her final week in this earth and especially the last 3 days, I really felt the campaigners for Breast Cancer should change it’s iconic color from Pink to Red Color and also doubt whether these campaigns on Breast Cancer Care and Awareness really reaching to the audience and purpose intended.
