Team 1 Daily Laws dt 01 Jan 2009 – Young Times come to an end

Dear friends,

A new cartoon series to begin the year with. What is happening around the world through the eyes of of small children. Hope you enjoy.

When I thought about this idea, I never thought I will be doing the first of this series about an item on a tragic incident that happened to the world of creative children in and around UAE. The popular magazine Young Times have come to an end on 31st December 2008. As the saying goes there is destiny and fate and definite ending to all finite and infinite objects in this world, what a fitting departure date for this wonderful magazine for the young (and old).

I was lucky to read each and every issue that was published except the first two years of it’s entry into this media world. The habit of following the prints closely made me more attached to it and Young Times became an integral part of my family. Even the Bangladeshi newsboy Mamtaz who deiver it at home became our family friend. As many of you including myself grew older with it, and the horizon of our bits and pieces of knowledge expanded with it, I just would like to express my thanks to all the team members who worked for it with my sincere heart and prayers. They were doing a great job for the children around. To compete with the visual world and stay alive is a big task and even during the final walks of their journey they remained totally committed for the cause of Young. The final edition carried all those features that used to be there all these weeks and were more interesting than the previous ones.

God bless you all to come back with a different form as noted in the final editorial piece of write up from Mrs Roopa Kurian and her excellant team.

I take this opportunity to invite all children who are regulars in contributing their creative works to forward their works to team1dubai@gmail.com and I will happily publish them at http://www.talentshare.blogspot.com.

2009 – A new beginning

2009. Let it be a productive year. As I wrote in my newsletter it was a foggy end to 2008 in all sense and beginning too (as this photo taken at 1:30 here local time shows). However, the weather cleared very soon, and as usual it was a bright and sunny morning today. Like these blossoming leaves of Ocimum Sanctum spread its aura and beauty (thulasi) let us try to spread our good qualities around with a social conscience for the benefit of the society.

Team 1 Best of Talents – Quality Appreciation 2008

Dear Friends who love words, graphics, sound & music,

Year 2008 have been very topsy turvy for many. However, for some of us who remained with a creative outlook, the year has been as productive or more.

As a freelancer and as a promoter of TQM & Positive Thinking values, I sincerely like to appreciate all those untiring and thankless efforts and pass on my appreciation to some members who came into prominence during the year 2008. In due course I will upload many of the commendable works by them which motivated me many times and inspired me to come out with an initiative of this sort.

I hope this initiative will be an inspiration for all the friends from media and it is an assurance that there are people who closely watch your work and appreciate your efforts. In 2009, I wish the list gets bigger and better and I hope all readers could form an opinion poll and evaluate it well in advance.

Sincere regards and All the very best,

Ramesh Menon

Venus, Moon conjunction on New Year’s Eve

New Delhi, Dec 30 : As the sun goes down Wednesday evening, two of the brightest objects in the winter sky – Venus and Moon – will get together to bid farewell to 2008.

A beautiful conjunction of Venus and the slender crescent Moon will be visible in the southwestern sky for hours after sunset on New Year’s Eve.

“The winter sky is very clear and you can have a spectacular vision of the celestial activity even with naked eyes,” Nehru Planetarium director N. Rathnasree told IANS.

“Venus blazes high and alone in the western sky at dusk. It will remain a beacon in sky throughout January, shining brighter than any other dot of light in the sky,” Rathnashree added.

Venus and Jupiter spent all of December 2008 blazing away in the western sunset sky. At the start of December, the two planets were side by side. Then, day by day, throughout December, they drifted apart.

“Watching Venus and Moon in conjunction is a wonderful way to end the new year,” said amateur astronaut Avinash Gupta.
